ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan will announce the much awaited verdict of Panamagate case on April 20, ARY News reported.
According to the apex court’s supplementary cause list, the verdict will be announced on April 20 at 2:00 PM.
On February 23, the five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan reserved its verdict after completion of the high profile Panamagate Case hearing against the family members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The bench had said that it will not be issuing a short order in the case but will release a full judgment at an appropriate time.
The case is filed by petitioners which include Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
Other than investments allegedly made by family members of Nawaz Sharif and members of his family in Mossack Fonseca, an offshore investment company, the petition seeks disqualification of PM Nawaz Sharif over his alleged misstatement in his address to the nation on April 5 and his speech before the National Assembly on May 16, 2016.
‘IT WILL BE BASED ON FACTS’
Talking to ARY News after the development, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Naeemul Haq expressed hope that the verdict will be based on truth, facts and not myths.
“It will be a great news for the whole nation and in future, no ruler will try to benefit himself by misusing his authority and power,” said Naeemul Haq.

THE PANAMAGATE SCANDAL
The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposes how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Three of Sharif’s four children are named in the Panama Papers – daughter Maryam, who has been tipped to be his political successor and sons Hasan and Hussain – with the records showing they owned London real estate through offshore companies administered by Mossack Fonseca.
The Panama Papers have whipped up a storm of controversy over offshore wealth, ensnaring political leaders, sports figures and underworld members across the globe in the scandal.
