It is pertinent to mention here that the Saudi government had announced on December 30, 2015, to form a coalition for coordinating and supporting military operations against terrorists in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and some African countries.
Initially the military coalition was comprised of 34 majority Muslim countries but the figure later rose to 39 after a few more countries opted to join the military alliance.
